Havana.- The Cuban pianist Jesús Chucho Valdés, who has a long history in the island and abroad, won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album.
Valdes achieved recognition along with his grouping the Afro Cuban Messengers for his album Tribute to Irakere: Live in Marciac, recorded live at a concert in France.
It is worth mentioning that the Cuban musician has six Grammys and three Latin Grammy Awards, in recognition of his extensive work in music worldwide.
In addition, the phonogram The Fantasy. A Tribute to Juan Formell (Egrem/Sony Music), by Los Van Van, was nominated in the category of Best Tropical Latin Album (Best Tropical Album).
The most important music awards in the United States are awarded annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, and this 59th edition it included 84 categories.
