Bridgetown.- The Caribbean tourist destinations received last year a record number of more than 29 million international visitors.
That level, according to the Caribbean Tourism Organization (OTC), represents a year-on-year growth of 4.2 percent, higher than the world average (3.9 percent).
Coupled with this, leisure industry revenues were at an all-time high of $ 35.5 billion, up by nearly 3.5 percent.
The United States remained the main tourist-sending country with 14.6 million visitors, while Europe recorded the highest rate of growth.
