Havana.- The Arc of Triumph of Cienfuegos, in central Cuba, will be restored over the next two years with the support of several French organizations.
The project will involve Cuba Cooperation (CubaCop) and the union UFM-CGT, with a view to inaugurating the work in 2019, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the city.
The total cost of the work, valued at 18,000 euros, will be borne by the trade unionists of UFM-CGT (Union of the Fraternity of Metallurgy).
The initiative is part of a vast program deployed by CubaCop aimed at contributing to the development of the city of Cienfuegos, whose historic center was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
In that direction, an agreement was signed at the beginning of this year between that association and the company Segat for the restoration of the mosaics of the Cienfuegos theater, Tomas Terry.
