Chilean Entrepreneurs to Evaluate Mining Project in Cuba
Monday, April 17, 2017

Havana.- Companies from Cuba and Chile have signed a contract to evaluate a project involving the extraction of iron and chromium in the eastern part of the island.

The entities will study the possibility of recovering those minerals, contained in the residual black tails of the nickel process in the area of Nicaro, in the eastern province of Holguín.

The agreement involves Commercial Caribbean Nickel S. (CCN) and the Chilean mercantile company RM Asesorías y Consultoría LTDA.

In this case, the foreign partner provides the financing of the study and in case of positive results would be created a joint venture to build the industrial facilities and processing of the black queues.

The latter are named for their dark gray color, are stored in an organized way in open pit deposits, with an estimated volume of 120 million tons.
