Havana.- The Cuban men's basketball team will seek to qualify for the World Championships in that sports, to be held in China in 2019.
The Cuban team will play in Group C of the qualifying event for the Americas, which also includes the United States, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
Group C is composed of Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and Panama, while Group B has Venezuela, Chile, Colombia and a team that has not been decided yet. Group D is made up of Canada, U.S. Virgin Islands, the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic.
As of late 2017, 80 teams will play and 32 teams will qualify for the world championships.
In that regard, the Americas will have seven slots, Asia will get seven places too, in addition to 12 for Europe, five for Africa and the host country.
