Cuban Rower Joins World Elite

Havana.- Cuban rower Angel Fournier joined the world ranking in rowing after winning a silver medal at the World Cup of that sport.

At the event, held in Poznan (Poland), Fournier finished second in the 2,000-meter single race.

The Cuban rower clocked 6:38.670 minutes, only preceded by Robert Manson (6:30.740), from New Zealand.

The third to the sixth places were held by Switzerland's Nico Stahlbert (6:40.250), Germany's Timole Naske (6:43.080), United Kingdom's Thomas Barras (6:45.460) and Croatia's Damir Martin (6:51.060), respectively.

Fournier's main objective is to be in optimal shape to compete in the World Championships, scheduled from September 25 to October 1 in Sarasota, United States.
