More U.S. Citizens Visit Cuba
Monday, June 26, 2017

Havana.- In the first five months of 2017, Cuba was visited by 284,565 U.S. citizens.

According to the National Statistics and Information Office, that number is close to the number of U.S. vacationers who visited the country in the same period in 2016 (284,937).

This year's arrivals from the United States account for an increase of 145 percent in contrast to the same period last year, when 116,004 U.S. tourists visited Cuba.

In addition, 166,455 Cubans who reside in the United States had visited the island until late May, accounting for an interannual growth of 45 percent.

The inauguration of regular flights by U.S. airlines and the increase in cruise ships' visits contributed to that growth in U.S. tourist arrivals.
