Low-Cost Airlines Enlarge Their Fleet

Panama.- The group of low-cost airlines Viva Air, based in Panama, will acquire 50 airplanes to enlarge its fleet.

The company signed a memorandum in that regard with the European aircraft maker Airbus to buy 15 A320 CEO planes and y 35 NEO planes.

According to Viva Air executives, this operation will allow the company to save 15 percent of fuel, 5 percent in maintenance and 14 percent in operational costs.

The transaction is estimated at 5.3 billion dollars, according to the catalogue prices of those planes.

Viva Air was founded by Irelandia Aviation and is made up of Viva Colombia and Viva Air Peru.
