Havana.- The collection Cuban Cinema Posters, of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), was included in a project by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The collection, made up of more than 1,000 posters, was included in the National Register of the World Memory Program of that UN agency.
These works are considered indispensable in the ICAIC collections, as they contribute to the visual education of people.
The experts who made that decision agreed that it is a collection of high cultural value and a graphic expression that accompanied Cuban cinema throughout its development.
The posters were conceived as ephemeral artworks to promote feature-length films, an exhibition or an event, and some of them became artistic works.
