Cuban Athletes to Compete in Deaflympics in Turkey
Monday, July 17, 2017

Havana.- Five Cuban athletes will participate in the 23rd Deaflympics in Samsun, Turkey, from July 18 to 30.

The Cuban delegation is made up of Suslay Girat, Erlys William Larrudet, Héctor Pérez, Yoandy González and Roberto Almira, who expect to improve their performances, consisting of three medals, in Bulgaria in 2013.

Girat might win three titles in the 100-meter race, long jump and triple jump, in which he holds the world records with 11.72 seconds, 6.24 meters and 13.63 meters, respectively.

For his part, Larrudet will try to retain the bronze medal he won tour years ago in the 100-meter race, as a result of which Cuba finished in the 20th place.

Héctor Pérez (discus and shot-put) and González (javelin and discus) are likely to be among the top tour athletes in each contest.
