Havana.- Angel Fournier, one of Cuba's best rowers, won a silver medal at the World Cup held in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Fournier clocked 6:52.940 minutes in the individual race at 2,000 meters, only preceded by the world champion, Robert Manson (6:49.080), from New Zealand.

In this third phase of the world event, the bronze medal went to Stanislau Shcharbachenia (6:55.000), from Belarus, who was followed by Nico Stahlberg (6:55.070), from Switzerland, and Sverri Nielsen (7:00.330), from Denmark.

Cuban experts pointed out that Fournier's objective is to be in his best shape to compete in the World Championships, scheduled from September 25 to October 1 in Sarasota, the United States.
