Positive Economic Results in Western Cuba
Monday, July 17, 2017

Havana.- Cuba's westernmost province, Pinar del Rio, has reported positive results in the evolution of its main economic indicators in 2017.

In that regard, production of rice, corn, vegetables, tomato, fruit, dairy products, photovoltaic modules, sawed timber and lobster has increased.

It should be said that the province supplies 85 percent of tuna species and 45 percent of lobster, which are among its main exports, to the Cuban economy.

Pinar del Rio also produces tobacco, of which some 19,000 tons of leaves will be produced, as Cuban cigars are highly demanded on the international market.

In the field of tourism, statistics show that 300,000 foreign vacationers visited the province, accounting for an increase of 5 percent on the same period last year.
