Meeting on Nephrology in Eastern Cuba |

Havana.- The eastern Cuban province of Holguin hosted the National Update Workshop on Nephrology for professionals in that medical specialty.
Experts acknowledge the system created nationwide to provide medical care to patients, in addition to a decrease in mortality and an increase in the number of patients who benefited from successful kidney transplants.
They also mentioned the importance of an early detection of renal diseases by the family doctor, clinicians, geriatrists, cardiologists and endocrinologists.
The early detection of the diseases prevents complications, as the patients' base diseases can lead to kidney insufficiency.
It should be noted that the province provides nephrology services in the municipalities of Moa, Banes and Mayarí, as well as in the Lucia Iñiguez Clinical Surgical Hospital and the Vladimir Ilich Lenin University Hospital.
