More Foreign Tourists Visit Cuban Capital
Monday, July 24, 2017

Havana.- The Cuban capital, the country's major tourist destination, reported a 29-percent increase in tourist arrivals in May, compared to the same period in 2016.

Local authorities pointed out that during the said period, Havana's major tourist-sending markets were Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain, all of which reported an increase in the number of vacationers who visited the city.

That trend was favored by new operations by international airlines and a good cruise season with small- and medium-size ships.

Havana offers 12,079 hotel rooms and benefits from a large investment program to increase its accommodation capacity.

As a result, the hotels Packard (321 rooms) and Prado y Malecón (250 rooms) are under construction and are scheduled for inauguration in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
