Caribbean Destinations Report Increased Tourist Arrivals
Monday, July 24, 2017

Bridgetown.- The arrivals of international tourists in Caribbean destinations increased 2 percent from January to April, compared to the same period in 2016.

In nearby regions like the Americas, tourist arrivals rose 4 percent in contrast to last year, as well as 7 percent in South America and Central America, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) reported.

Globally, 369 million international tourists traveled in the first four months of 2017, accounting for a 6-percent increase on 2016.

Experts recalled that the January-April period represents about 28 percent of the annual total arrivals, including the Chinese New Year and the Holy Week vacations.

The Middle East reported a steady increase of 10 percent in tourist arrivals, followed by Africa (8 percent) and Europe (6 percent).
