Havana.- The Gastroenterology Institute of Cuba has incorporated new endoscopic procedures as a result of a program of investments.
Experts from the institute pointed out that they are using 13 such methods, including endoscopic therapies, the tying-up of varicose veins, the treatment of digestive hemorrhage and high-definition ultrasound screening.
The introduction of state-of-the-art technologies has also allowed improving the studies on liver diseases, mainly infections by the C virus.
Works included the remodeling and enlargement of infrastructure and the upgrade of human resources.
The Gastroenterology Institute is the governing center in that medical specialty in Cuba and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that affect the digestive tract.
