Cuban Strategy against Multiple Sclerosis
Monday, August 21, 2017

Havana.- Cuba's healthcare system is implementing a nationwide strategy to assist and rehabilitate patients suffering from multiple sclerosis.

The project is being implemented at the Dr. Faustino Perez Hernandez Rehabilitation Hospital in central Sancti Spiritus province.

According to experts, some 700 patients have been treated over the past 14 years, and in more than 90 percent of cases, their quality of life was improved.

The hospital has environmental conditions that help patients suffering that chronic and progressive inflammatory disease of the central nervous system to improve their psychological conditions.

Multiple sclerosis is the major cause of neurological disability in young adults and can affect several functions, like muscular strength, balance and coordination.
