Cuba Strengthens Air Connections with the Caribbean
Monday, August 21, 2017

Havana.- The companies Fly Jamaica Airways and Air Guyana will operate direct regular flights between Guyana and Cuba.

The Civil Aeronautic Institute of Cuba (IACC) granted permits to the airlines to operate that kind of connection, after several months of negotiations among the parties.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening Caribbean integration in terms of air transportation, tourism and multidestination travels.

In addition, several companies from Guyana are interested in Cuba's market, considering that the former is the main rice producer of the Southern Common Market (CARICOM).

For its part, Fly Jamaica Airways is weighing the possibility of flying to Santiago de Cuba and Camagüey, in addition to Havana.
