Cruise Tourism Grows in Spain
Monday, August 21, 2017

Madrid.- Cruise tourism is growing in Spain, which was visited by 3.62 million passengers in the first six months of 2017.

According to official sources, that trend accounts for a historic peak in that sector, with an interannual growth of 1.7 percent.

Port authorities predicted a record of 8.8 million cruise passengers this year, and that number might reach 9.5 million by 2020.

The experts said that Barcelona welcomed more than one million visitors and became the main European cruise destination and the fourth in the world as a port of call.

It should be said that the ports on the Mediterranean Sea handled 63.7 percent of the total number of cruise travelers, accounting for an increase of 6.6 percent.
