Havana.- The Cuban educational project Armonia (Harmony) was among the winners of a contest held in 2017 by the Regional Fund for Digital Innovation in Latin America and the Caribbean (FRIDA)
The initiative was developed by the University of Oriente and was implemented in a score of rural communities in Santiago de Cuba province.
According to experts, Armonia is an exemplary effort to incorporate technologies into schools and rural communities, despite Cuba's limitations to access the Internet.
The participating communities depend on agriculture and the only institutions with possibilities to use information and communication technologies (ICTs) are primary schools and higher education institutions.
Through Armonia, more than 190 digital didactic means were created and some 200 scientific events linked to the objective of the project were held.
