Cuban Chess Player Remains in World Elite

Havana.- Grand Master (GM) Leinier Dominguez, Cuba's best chess player, remains in the world ranking in that sport.

The latest update of the world ranking shows that Dominiguez is in the 22nd position with an Elo score of 2,739 points, tied with Vietnam's Le Quang Liem and Poland's Radoslaw Wojtaszek.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, the Cuban player is followed by Ecuador's Eduardo Iturrizaga in the 83rd place with 2,665 points, and Peru's Julio Granda in the 99th position.

The world ranking is led by Norway's Magnus Carlsen, who has an Elo score of 2,827 points, followed by France's Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (2,804 points) and Russia's Vladimir Kramnik.

In the women's ranking, the Cuban player Lisandra Ordaz is in the 66th position with an Elo score of 2,394 points, tied with China's Qi Guo. Ordaz ranks first in Latin America.
