Industries Ready to Start Sugarcane Harvest
Monday, September 11, 2017

Havana.- Cuba's sugar mills are undergoing maintenance works to be ready for the beginning of the sugarcane harvest.

In western Matanzas province, works have been completed at 50 percent, two months before the beginning of the harvest.

The plan is to test the machinery before the harvest begins, as authorities expect an 8-percent increase in sugar production.

The repair aims to consolidate the investments made in previous years, in addition to organize the transportation of the raw material and its recollection from the fields.

Actions focus on four sugar factories in the province, where the boilers and power generators are being improved.
