Alternative Energy in Ciego de Avila
Monday, September 11, 2017

Havana.- The eastern Cuban province of Ciego de Avila inaugurated its first photovoltaic park, as part of a strategy to use alternative sources of energy.

The facility, which is on its trial and startup phase, has supplied 60 megawatts/hour to the National Electro-energetic System (SEN, in Spanish).

The photovoltaic park is in the provincial capital and has a generation capacity of 4.4 megawatts. Another similar facility is under construction and will generate 5.5 megawatts.

Moreover, solar panels are being installed in 200 houses in Ciego de Avila.

The project uses a module that consists of a 250-watt photovoltaic panel, connection cables, distribution box, solar charge regulator, sinusoidal inverter, a sealed battery and four lamps.
