Cruise Tourism to Grow in Spain
Monday, September 11, 2017

Madrid.- Spain's ports are expected to receive nearly nine million cruise passengers altogether in 2017.

According to estimates by Port Authorities, cruise traffic will grow at an average of 1.5 percent a year, to 9.5 million passengers by 2020.

In order to promote that tourist option, Spanish public institutions and tourist companies attended the Seatrade Europe Fair, the major event on cruises in the continent.

Europe is a major tourist-sending market, as nearly 6.6 million passengers from the continent enjoyed that recreational modality in 2016.

Germany contributed nearly 30 percent of tourists, while the United Kingdom sent 1.9 million passengers and Italy reported 751,000 travelers.
