Cuban Cyclist to Compete in World Route Championships

Havana.- The Cuban cyclist Marlies Mejías will participate in the World Route Cycling Championships in late September in Bergen, Norway.

Mejías, who has competed with the Argentinean professional club Shimano Ladies Power during this season, has been training in Cuba prior to the event.

It should be said that as a member of the Shimano team, she has won the 1st International Women's Tour of Uruguay, the Tour of San Juan, Argentina, and the 2nd Titan Tropic in Cuba.

In addition, in the continental track event, she won the silver medal in scratch and the bronze medal in team pursue, along with Arlenis Sierra, Mailyn Sánchez and Yeima Torres.

In the World Championships in Norway, the female cyclists will compete in individual, team and route time-trial races, and Mejías will compete in the route event.
