Strategy against Vectors in Eastern Cuba
Monday, September 18, 2017

Havana.- The healthcare system in the eastern Cuban province of Holguin focuses its efforts on a strategy to prevent the proliferation of vectors.

Actions have gained ground after Hurricane Irma hit the region, as it is a priority to take extreme hygiene measures on the territory.

In fact, the heavy rains brought by the cyclone increased the level of the aquifer, and septic tanks overflowed into houses and outdoors.

Therefore, it is indispensable to boil water for human consumption or treat it with sodium hypochlorite, as alternatives to prevent the spreading of acute diarrheic diseases.

Furthermore, houses should be cleaned to prevent the proliferation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which causes dengue fever, zika and other diseases.
