Cuba Hosts Forum of Young Creators from the Americas

Havana.- The Cuban capital hosted the 4th Meeting on Thinking and Creation by Youths in the Americas, known as Casa Tomada (Occupied House), aimed at promoting the cultural development of the new generations.

The event consisted of several specialized workshops, including those given by Gloria Esquivel, from Colombia, and Gabriel Cortiñas, from Argentina, to young authors, with works either published or unpublished, and about writing as a form of existence.

Other events were meetings with musicians, actors, writers, representatives of small publishing houses and members of social movements from a score of countries.

Casa Tomada brought together creators from Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Chile, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, France, Nicaragua, the United States, Peru and Canada, in addition to Cuba.

The program included the evaluation of strategies of existence and positioning of contemporary cultural production and the role of youths in the construction and safeguard of the hemisphere's historic memory.
