Cuba's Healthcare System Guarantees Nurses
Monday, September 25, 2017

Havana.- Cuba's healthcare system guarantees the nurses necessary to operate smoothly, taking into consideration the sector's high demand for those professionals.

According to experts, Cuba has 89,000 nurses, including 64,000 who have university and technical degrees.

The specialists added that 87 percent of nurses are women and that the personnel guarantee the total coverage of family doctor's offices, intensive care units, emergency rooms and neonatology services.

It should be said that in intensive care units, each ventilated patient has a nurse to take care of them in every working shift, so the demand from that service is very high.

In the communities, nurses are in charge of prevention and control of risk groups, health promotion, active surveys, recovery and rehabilitation.
