Preventive Actions Benefit People in Western Cuba
Monday, September 25, 2017

Havana.- Healthcare authorities in the western Cuban province of Matanzas are taking actions to prevent infections.

Efforts coincide with the stage of recovery on the territory, which was seriously hit by Hurricane Irma.

That way, teams of experts are assessing the situation in all 13 municipalities in the province and are working to prevent the proliferation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito and other vectors.

After the hurricane, measures were taken to purify drinking water by boiling it or by adding sodium hypochlorite, which is available in all pharmacies.

Regarding food, the strategy aims to process only the food that will be consumed, in addition to improving care of senior citizens, pregnant women and children under one year of age.
