Cuba Implements Strategy to Develop Children's Brain
Monday, September 25, 2017

Havana.- The United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) has included Cuba among the countries in the world acknowledged for implementing strategies to guarantee the good brain development of children.

In that regard, UNICEF noted that Cuba combines the two years of free pre-primary education with a paid leave of absence for nursing mothers during the first six months of the child's life.

Moreover, mothers can enjoy six other months of paid maternity leave and fathers can take four weeks of paternity leave.

These actions contribute to laying key foundations for the children's optimum development during the first months of life, because parents can guarantee better nutrition, games and early learning at a crucial stage in life.

The UNICEF list also includes Belarus, Bulgaria, France, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Luxemburg, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Sweden, Turkmenistan and Ukraine.
