Havana's Emblematic Sculpture of Don Quixote Restored
Monday, October 23, 2017

Havana.- The emblematic sculpture of Don Quixote of the Americas, in Havana, is undergoing restoration works.

The hoofs of Rocinante, two of which (those of the hind legs) support the entire structure, were repaired before Hurricane Irma hit the country.

The sculpture was damaged by birds' nests inside the hollow structure, so in order to prevent further damage, wire nets were placed.

In addition, the damage caused by salt residues and natural elements will be eliminated.

The sculpture, made of welded wire rods, shows Don Quixote brandishing his sword on his reared up horse.
