New Cruise Terminal in Panamá
Monday, October 23, 2017

Panama.- Panama's tourism sector will benefit from the services of a new cruise terminal to promote that tourist modality.

The consortium Cruceros del Pacifico, made up of the companies CHEC (China) and Jan de Nul (Belgium), will carried out the project at a total investment of nearly 165 million dollars.

The Maritime Authority of Panama (AMP, in Spanish) pointed out that the works are scheduled for completion in 18 months, after which the province of Colon will receive cruise ships carrying up to 5,000 passengers.

According to estimates, cruise tourism is expected to grow to bring nearly 700,000 passengers a year to Panama.

In addition, this project benefits the local labor market, as it will generate nearly 1,000 direct jobs and more than 1,800 indirect jobs.
