Havana.- The nuclear medicine service at the Frank Pais International Orthopedic Scientific Complex, in Havana, underwent a process of internal audit to assess its quality.
The audit responded to the need of diagnosing the compliance with the requirements established in the QUANUM document from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
It should be explained that QUANUM is a methodology developed by a multidisciplinary group of experts from the IAEA to carry out internal and external audits in nuclear medicine services.
The procedure aims to demonstrate the level of safety of the clinical procedures on patients, workers and companions.
The evaluations were in line with the project Strengthening the Quality in Nuclear Medicine Services of Cuba's National Health System, in coordination with the Isotope Center (CENTIS).
