Cruise Tourism Gains Ground in Cuba
Monday, November 13, 2017

Havana.- Cruise tourism has gained ground in Cuba's economy, with large revenues for the Caribbean island and shipping companies.

In that regard, the itineraries to Cuba by three major cruise companies from the United States during the 2017-2019 period will leave more than 623 million dollars in revenues.

The shipping companies Norwegian, Carnival and Royal Caribbean will carry about 455,000 passengers in 286 voyages scheduled during that period.

In addition, Cuba will earn some 64 million dollars by concept of expenditures by holidaymakers in land transportation, excursions, restaurants and souvenirs like Havana cigars.

Cuba will also receive 19 million dollars from port tariffs paid by the cruise ships during their stay in the Caribbean island.
