Cuban Musical Expression Gets International Recognition |

Havana.- The so-called Punto Cubano was designated Humankind's Intangible Heritage by the Intergovernmental Committee in charge of analyzing that issue.
According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the genuine musical expression of Cuban peasants is part of nine elements approved worldwide.
It should be said that the list of Humankind's Intangible Heritage only includes expressions that are testimonies of cultural diversity.
In that regard, Punto Cubano is a poetic and musical expression of Cuban rural people and consists of a tune or melody that is accompanied by a singer who sings poetic compositions.
In addition, it is an essential element of Cuba's intangible cultural heritage that facilitates dialogue and expresses communities' sentiments, knowledge and values.
