Havana.- The neonatology service at the Vladimir I. Lenin Hospital in eastern Holguin province guarantees excellent health care of local patients.
The hospital follows up on children born weighing less than 1,500 grams, who receive the appropriate nutrition to improve their quality of life and strengthen their immune system.
Actions include feeding the newborns with pasteurized maternal milk and the administration of proteins parenterally, as part of the Mother-Child Program.
The hospital's neonatology ward can attend to more than 30 patients in seven cubicles, four of which are intensive and intermediate care units.
The hospital ratified its condition of Friend of Mothers and Children, a distinction that acknowledges the institution's work to reduce infant and maternal mortality.
