Havana.- The book "Matanzas: Primera Urbe Moderna de Cuba", has been published to commemorate the 325th anniversary of that western city.
Printed by Ediciones Matanzas, the book contains the research carried out by Alicia García and contains a collection of old plans and images.
The book is an excellent reading for those interested in learning aspects of urban culture from the 16th and 17th centuries in Cuba.
It also contains decisions made during the restoration of the patrimony of San Carlos and San Severino de Matanzas, a city founded on October 12, 1693, and famous for its neoclassical architecture.
The book is part of a larger study, currently in process, entitled "La Casa Cubana en el Caribe Hispánico", which is sponsored by several national and foreign organizations.
