Cuban Athlete Wins Copernicus Athletics Cup
Monday, February 19, 2018

Havana.- The Cuban athlete Cristián Nápoles won the triple jump event at the Copernicus Cup in Torun, Poland, which was the fifth stage of the indoor circuit of the International Athletics Federation.

Nápoles jumped 16.90 meters and scored 10 points in the ranking, as part of a series in which only the Glasgow meeting is left.

It is worth mentioning that the Cuban athlete set a record of 17.02 meters, his best indoor jump, in Lievin, France, and in just two weeks, he will compete in the World Championships in Birmingham.

At the closing stage of the Glasgow circuit, the Cuban pole vaulter Yarisley Silva, who has been training for several weeks in Pamplona, Spain, has confirmed her participation.

Cuba will be represented by Yorgelis Rodríguez (individual high and long jump), Yoandys Lescay (400 meters), Roger Valentín Iribarne (110 meter hurdles), Yanniuvis López (shot put), Juan Miguel Echevarría and Maikel Massó.
