Fruit and Vegetable Processing in Cuba Improved
Monday, February 19, 2018

Havana.- The factory La Conchita, in the western Cuban province of Pinar del Rio, plans to process around 18,200 tons of vegetables and fruits in 2018.

According to experts, about 14,200 tons will consist of tomatoes, taking into account that it is the raw material to make several products.

At present, the factory processes around 100 tons per day and control is maintained over the concentration, acidity, chloride and tightness of the containers.

Likewise, technological investments are planned in the mayonnaise and tomato lines for small containers, while the construction of the waste treatment system goes as planned.

The plant supplies some 40 products, among which stand out jams, sweets in syrup, mango and guava concentrates, compotes, mayonnaise, dressings, marinated salads, and sliced pepper and cucumber.
