Havana.- This month, the Havana-based Casa de Las Américas is hosting the 16th edition of the Musicology Award, organized by that cultural institution.
According to experts, two dozen researchers from several nations of the American continent are opting for the award, which is dedicated to the 100th birthday of the musicologist Argeliers León.
The tribute to this intellectual is an acknowledgement of his contribution to the development of Latin American musicology from his post as founding director of the Music Department of Casa de las Américas.
Parallel to the award, the 10th Colloquium on Musicology will be held with an academic program that will include lectures and panels attended by 42 experts from 14 countries.
The topics on the agenda include contemporary historic and popular musicology, problems in the music industry, Leo Brower's works for cinema and elements of musical iconography.
