Cuban Karateists Seek Qualification for Barranquilla |

Havana.- Cuban karateists will compete in a qualifying event in Colombia, with a view to participating in the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia.
The Cuban delegation is made up of 12 fighters, six men and six women, ten of whom will compete in kumité (combat) and two in katá (technical demonstration).
The women's team is made up of Yoandra Moreno in more than 68 kilograms, Yudelmis Báez (50 kg), Baurelis Torres (55 kg), Elizabet Vasallo (61 kg) and Cirelys Martínez (68 kg).
Meanwhile, the men's team includes Dennis Pelayo (84 kg), Juan Carlos Pita (60 kg), Maykel Noriega (67 kg), Edgar Martín Ramírez (75 kg) and Lázaro Yordan Chapman (+84 kg).
Claudia Burgos for the women and Berto Raúl Cárdenas for men will compete in the kata competition.
In Veracruz-2014, Cuban karateists won two silvers and three bronze medals, finishing in the eighth place in the table of medals, which was topped by the Dominican Republic (4-3-1), Venezuela (4-2-2) and Colombia (1-0-3).
