Increased Supply of Construction Materials in Cuba
Monday, March 19, 2018

Havana.- The Cuban economy will implement a program to increase production and sales of construction materials, with a view to meeting the growing demand from the domestic market.

The strategy consists of exploiting the reserves of raw materials in the communities, in order to take production of inputs to 423 popular councils in a first stage.

Cement production will be increased by converting part of the Portland 350 into the low-carbon LC-3, which incorporates calcined clay and limestone dust.

This last option is a formulation developed by the Center for Research and Development of Structure and Materials, the Marta Abreu Central University of Las Villas and the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The program also envisages increasing production of metal molds to manufacture concrete tanks to be used as water containers.
