Impact of Clinical Trials on Cuban Health Studied
Monday, May 21, 2018

Havana.- The implementation of clinical trials throughout the island for the treatment of several ailments is part of the strategy of the Cuban health system.

In an evaluation conducted in the eastern province of Las Tunas, it was reported that during 2017, 28 open studies were reported in the country with 602 patients involved.

In the case of that territory, there are 11 trials under way, nine of them on cancer, one on respiratory distress and another one on psoriasis.

Since 2005, the province has been included in the clinical trials project supported by the Molecular Engineering Center of Cuba, although since the late 1990s, the country has offered monoclonal therapies to treat cancer, mainly.

According to experts, clinical trials are the best alternative for patients because they are made under very strict standards of research protocols.
