Environment and Tourism in Jardines del Rey
Monday, May 21, 2018

Havana.- The tourist destination of Jardines del Rey (King's Gardens), north of Ciego de Avila province, is prioritizing a strategy to preserve the environment.

According to experts in the field, among these actions is the sowing of vegetation on the dunes to protect them, as they are the best defense against storms.

The use of autochthonous plants in gardening is booming in the hotels of that tourist destination, in addition to taking into account environmental elements in the buildings.

Together with this, the maintenance of the beaches and the rehabilitation of Laguna Larga are carried out to reduce the water retention time and improve the area's hydrodynamic conditions.

Sand dumping is also carried out, a process that since 2016 to date has already benefited some nine kilometers of the beach strip.
