Cuban Experts Warn about Ischemic Heart Disease
Monday, June 11, 2018

Havana.- Cuban experts have warned about a higher incidence of ischemic heart disease among women, after evaluating a study that involved 3,000 people.

In that regard, they pointed out that this behavior responds to several factors, such as smoking, diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure.

Therefore, in order to prevent these conditions, they recommended preventing coronary risk factors such as hypertension and smoking, as well as to do exercise and have a low-calorie diet.

The study, conducted over the past ten years among women with ischemic heart disease, showed that there is an incidence of around 10 percent in the Cuban population.

The disease, caused by the protective effect of estrogen, usually appears in post-menopause women and, therefore much later than in men.
