Havana.- The Cuban export portfolio includes several products from the mining sector, including nickel, cobalt, lead and zinc.

According to industry sources, nickel sales contributed some 600 million dollars last year, with an Entrepreneurial Group made up of 13 units operate in the sector.

It is worth mentioning that in Cuban archipelago holds large deposits of nickel in Moa, Mayarí (Holguín), San Felipe (Camagüey) and Cajálbana (Pinar del Río).

In terms of investments, the Castellanos project stands out for the production of lead and zinc concentrates in Santa Lucía, in Pinar del Río.

The joint venture Emincar operates in that region, where it executed works worth 272 million dollars and it can process one million tons of ore a year.
