Cuba Increases Power Generation
Monday, June 18, 2018

Havana.- The thermoelectric power station in Nuevitas, in the eastern province of Camagüey, has recovered its generation capacity after the completion of a renovation process that benefited three of its units.

The plant went out of service four months, due to a breakdown and will now contribute 335 megawatts/hour to the National Power System.

The facility still requires actions in two blocks to reach its total capacity of 360 megawatts per hour.

The works were done by specialists from the power plants in Mariel, eastern Havana, in Santa Cruz del Norte, and Felton, in Holguín, along with experts from the Cienfuegos-based Empresa de Servicios Técnicos.

The project also involved experts Empresa de Grupos Electrógenos y Servicios Eléctricos (GEYSEL) and Geominera in Pinar del Río and Isla de la Juventud.
