Increase in Tourist Arrivals in Dominican Republic |

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic received 2,853,998 foreign visitors who arrived by air from January to May 2018.
According to the Central Bank, this result represents an increase of 5.9 percent compared to the same period in the 2017 fiscal year.
North America was the main tourist-sending market, with 61.3 percent of the holidaymakers, followed by Europe (23.1 percent), South America (12.3), and Central America and the Caribbean (3 percent).
By countries, Argentina stood out with 29,076 vacationers, followed by Brazil (14,007), Chile (4,559) and Uruguay (1,888).
In the case of Europe, a reduction of 2.4 percent was reported in the first five months of the year as a consequence of a decrease in the number of travelers from Germany, Russia, Sweden, Spain and Italy, while France and Portugal reported increases in tourist arrivals in the Dominican Republic.
