Cuban Athletes Stands Out in Spanish Contest

Havana.- The Cuban athletes Juan Miguel Echevarría (long jump) and Yaime Pérez (disc) won the athletic meeting in Guadalajara (Spain).

Echevarría set a record of 8.37 meters, enough to leave Germany's Maximilian Entholzner (7.85) and Brazil's Lucas M. Dos Santos (7.78) behind.

For her part, Perez gave a stable performance and won with a throw of 65.42 meters, better than Brazil's Fernanda Borges (63.64 meters) and Denia Caballero (62.06).

In the 400-meter race, Yoandys Lescay finished third, with 45.68 seconds, his first record below 46 seconds this season.

Roger Valentín Iribarne in the 110-meter hurdles and Rose Mary Almanza in the 800-meter race did not win medals.
