New Cuban Films in Production |

Havana.- The Cuban film industry is working on three motion pictures that will be exhibited at the 40th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana.
Two of them deal about Cuban historic events in the 19th century and the third one portrays several periods in the country's history in the 20th century.
"Inocencia" (Innocence) is the title of one of the movies and was directed by Alejandro Gil who was inspired by the execution of eight medical students in 1871 by Spanish colonial authorities.
Another film, "El Mayor" (The Major), directed by Rigoberto López, is a fiction that recreates true events from the mid-19th century.
The third movie is "Nido de Mantis" (Mantis' Nest), by Arturo Sotto, produced by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), Ítaca Films (Mexico) and Cottos Producciones S.R.L. (Dominican Republic), in collaboration with the Ibermedia Program.
